PROMOTING AND PROTECTING CHILDREN’S RIGHTS

General objective: To create friendly and non-violent environments for children in Kosovo schools through targeted actions of civil society organizations and local communities to promote children’s rights. Specific objectives: Empower local communities to improve the measure of child protection in schools through raising awareness, mediation and peaceful conflict resolution.

Activities:

  • Establish an online platform for raising awareness about the rights of the child and measures for their protection.
  • Developing information materials for children, parents, teachers and the general public.
  • Organizing the media competition for the best article on the rights of the child.
  • Organize the Regional Conference on the Rights of the Child.
  • The choice of 10 local NGOs to work with 40 rural schools.
  • Organizing trainings on child rights and peer mediation for NGOs, children, parents and teachers.
  • Organizing study visits for NGOs and school representatives in Peer and Mediation Clubs in Macedonia and Albania.
  • Monitoring and assisting local NGOs in support of schools to implement child protection policies.
  • Collecting examples of best practices from target schools and publishing them.

Beneficiaries:

  1. 15,000 pupils from 40 primary and lower secondary schools
  2. Their parents
  3. About 1,000 teachers from the 40 selected schools
  4. 10 Non-Governmental Organizations
  5. Community at large
