KOSOVISION

The Project Is a national competition in which all primary schools in Kosovo participate, more specifically, all fifth grade students of all ethnic backgrounds. The number of participants is 30,000-35,000 per year. Children deal with themes present in their immediate environment: living together, education, economy, infrastructure, environment. From a methodological point of view, this corresponds to the process of Education for Democratic Citizenship as promoted by the Council of Europe. The main objectives of the project are to increase the skills of the participants of the Kosovision Contest to address real-life community issues in a creative and responsible way. The aim of the project was that starting from the academic year 2014/2015, KOSOVISION CONTEST in one to transform into regular primary education activities in Kosovo. In the period September 2008 – June 2014, the project was funded by the Swiss Development Agency (SDC), while in september 2014-June 2017 the financing is made by MEST, based on an agreement of understanding with SDC, with an annual amount of EUR 93,000. The project will continuously try to integrate Serbian students into the project.

Main results:

1. The three cycles of KOSOVISION CONTEST have ended.

2. Teachers are capable of promoting the participation of children in democratic processes.

3. MEST takes the necessary measures to integrate KOSOVISION CONTEST into the regular education system.
