EQUIPPING FIRST GRADERS WITH SET OF CHILDREN’S BOOKS
EQUIPPING FIRST GRADERS WITH SET OF CHILDREN’S BOOKS
The basic idea of this project is to encompass the first classes in Kosovo and Macedonia with a set of reading books, designed to improve reading skills at a young age.
The project trains and monitors teachers on the use of books, sharing literature and stories with young children and promoting narrative and creative reading. With this project each first grade class in Kosovo receives a series of books, while classes with more than 20 students will receive two groups.
A total of 27,000 children and 600 schools will be part of the project. In Macedonia, 800 book groups will be distributed in the first classes taught in Macedonian, and 400 book groups will be distributed in the first classes taught in Albanian.
A total of 21,000 children and 200 schools will be part of the project. The set of books is stacked on a cardboard board, shaped like an attractive children’s bus, to be used to store books but also as a toy. Attached to it will also be a poster with information about the topics of the books. Kosovo Education Center is responsible for distributing books to all first grade classrooms in Kosovo, and the Foundation for Education and Culture Indicators -FEC Sep per step will be responsible for distributing books in Macedonia.
The seminar on the use of books is organized in 20 municipalities, attended by teachers from nearby countries. The experienced Kosovo Education Center is responsible for the delivery and facilitation of workshops. Each school selects a teacher (preferable quality coordinator) who will participate in a one-day informative workshop on the use of books. The same teachers shall be responsible for dissemination of information to their respective school.
The same concept will be implemented in Macedonia under the direction of the Foundation for Education and Cultural Initiative step by step.
