EDUCATION FOR DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION (EDC/HRE)

Kosova Education Center (KEC) participates in various regional projects aimed at training teachers to implement in their classrooms the principles of Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education (EDC/HRE).

One of the projects kec has continued to implement during 2014 is the “Human Rights in Action” project. The “Human Rights in Action” project has started to be implemented in Kosovo since the beginning of September 2013. During 2013, a questionnaire was drafted to assess the degree of implementation of the EDC/HRE principles by the teachers of social subjects of the High School “Mehmet Isai” in Gjilan, which were part of this regional project.

To have a clear picture on the implementation of these principles in classrooms, kec-engaged researchers asked that the questionnaire be filled out by 20% of teachers and 20% of students of “Mehmet Isai” school in Gjilan. The data collected from the questionnaire were presented at the meeting held with teachers and students of this school on 16 January 2014. At this meeting, the possibilities of involving the student council in various school decision-making processes were discussed. This report was made public on the webpage of the Human Rights in Action project funded by the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Wergeland Centre (EWC). In this network is published the leaflet, which presents the activities carried out during 2013/2014 within this project in Kosovo.
