HIGHER EDUCATION SUPPORT PROGRAM (HESP)

The Higher Education Support Program (HESP) is a Soros network program that was initially implemented in Kosovo by the Kosovo Open Society Foundation (KFOS) until 2002 when it was transferred to KEC. In four years of operation within KEC, the program has supported numerous initiatives in the field of higher education, through its components:

  • Development of educational policies
  • Discussion Forum
  • Development of teachers
  • Application of knowledge
  • Teaching guests
  • Collaboration between university and research institutes
  • New branches of social science.

A major achievement of the HESP Program over the years is the partnership with MEST in the preparation of the “Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Kosovo 2005-2015”, which was approved by the Government of Kosovo. Hesp also supported the establishment of two new departments at the University of Prishtina: the Department of Political Science and the Department of Psychology.
