DEVELOPMENT OF THE GENERAL EDUCATION STRATEGY

The aim of this action was to facilitate the development of the General Education Strategy for Kosovo 2007-2017. A series of workshops with wide participation across different educational levels, started by identifying weaknesses and strengths, revealed from the areas to be addressed, defined the vision and mission of the strategy, strategic development objectives and finally provided concrete measures and actions that will advance the education system in the important years to come for Kosovo society. These measures became even more functional in the detailed plan of action and budget for the years 2007 – 2012. Kec’s role was to provide overall support to the process, including expertise and logistics. This strategic document was adopted by the Government of Kosovo in April 2007 and serves as a basis for coordination of donors in the education sector. Following the strategy development process, KEC has prepared a comprehensive monitoring framework for the Ministry of Science, Education and Technology, which has provided a tool for monitoring the implementation of strategic measures and achieving strategic objectives.
