MULTI-CULTURAL EDUCATION

The purpose of the multi-cultural education project was to create a new opinion on the role and importance of quality education and education for human and children’s rights for the prosperity of Kosovo society, active education for peace as the main preconditory for the development of the citizens of Kosovo, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, their social views, political, economic, gender or any other affiliation. The main objectives of the project were:

  • Increase awareness of the role and importance of multicultural education;
  • Develop local capacities for multicultural education;
  • Developing a manual for multicultural education;
  • Development of multicultural and multi-ethnic activities;

The main activities were:

  • Development of the ToT program (training of trainers);
  • Organizing tot with trainers of the program “Education for children’s rights”;
  • Training of teachers engaged mainly in social sciences in accordance with the “multicultural education” program;
  • Developing a manual for multicultural education;
  • The development of the curriculum in multicultural education,
  • Organizing multicultural social events.

Key results:

  1. 25 children’s rights counselors are involved in ToT (Training of Trainers);
  2. 120 teachers were engaged mainly in social sciences and trained in accordance with the “multicultural education” program;
  3. Various social activities based on multicultural education have been held in different countries in Kosovo;
  4. 10 discussions and debates on multicultural education were organized;
  5. A multicultural education manual was drawn up;
  6. The curriculum for multicultural education was drawn up;
  7. Lesson plans for multicultural education have been developed and distributed to teachers.
