SUPPORTING THE EDUCATION OF ROMA, ASHKALI AND EGYPTIAN COMMUNITIES

The overall goal of this Project was to improve socio-economic integration of rae community in Kosovo. The main goal of the project was to assist RAE communities in improving participation in education. The idea is to implement the Project in three pilot centers and undertake a range of activities within communities and schools in order to raise interest in education among community members and help them to function better in the education process. The project was developed at three locations: The Ashkali Community in TheSar. By establishing contacts between DKA-Ferizaj and KEC, it was managed to engage an educant from MEST for the preschool class of Ashkali community children, which opened in the primary school in Zaskok. Roma community in Prizren. KEC organized through the community center the complementary teaching for the students of this community, as well as the organization of preschool for 20 children of this community in a private nursery. For community needs, the spaces in durmish asllna have been adapted and equipped. The Egyptian community in Gjakova. – The center’s coordinator has concluded that most of the children of this community are not vaccinated. As an emergency activity of the center in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the proper vaccination for these children has been made. In order to increase the interest of parents for the health of children, debates and conversations with the citizens of this community have been organized.
