KEC has started implementing projects linked to human rights in 2003, with the main focus on children's rights. Such projects have enabled conducting guidelines and methodologies for the protection of children's rights in schools, violence prevention, and other activities that strengthen children’s rights. The protocol for the prevention of violence developed under this program is approved by the Government and is now implemented in schools of Kosovo. Other projects in this area are those that deal with the rights of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities. Although the focus of these projects is to ensure equality of these communities into society, they address the issue of improving the quality of educational services provided to these communities.
Researches made by KEC are usually of the applicable nature rather than academic. The goal is to analyze certain topics regarding science and education, from the perspective of best practices or the analysis of the situation, and providing recommendations for improvements. In this regard, KEC makes studies aimed at assessing the projects implemented by third parties, but also the analysis that should inform decision-making on a particular issue.
